Better late than never! Here begin my advent blogs in the lead up to Christmas!
We’re having friends over for Christmas dinner, which is lovely because we all like similar things and generally have a fantastic time. My close friends are my family as far as I’m concerned anyway. So I thought I’d get off to a cracking start (ha dee ha ha), I thought I’d give you a sneaky peak at my Game of Thrones themed Christmas crackers.
This was an idea that sort of snowballed on me. I started out with thinking a lot of crackers you get these days are quite same-y and I wanted to make my own. We all enjoy GoT, so I thought a brief hunt on the internet would yield some tiny merchandise that would fit inside a cracker, which it did.
I then got to thinking, “I bet I can find some hilarious and cheesy GoT jokes online”, which I dutifully tracked down. I added my own twist here, by rolling them up and tying them so they look like the messages they get in the series that are carried by birds.
Then it got silly. I had the bright idea to make the paper hats into copies of Joffrey’s crown. Don’t get me wrong, they look amazing, but it took me almost 6 hours with a craft knife to do them. On top of the time it took me to cut the crackers themselves.
Why do I do this to myself?
