So I’m now making a giant-version of the zombie bear because … I can? I’m racking up a list of possible projects (none of which I can really afford to do) which include:
- A scale 1:1 ewok
- Ludo from Labyrinth
- Porgs
- Ewok hoods/scarves
- An Alice: The Madness Returns cosplay
Anybody fancy sponsoring a project?
I’m also very much enjoying watching my other half play the Witcher 3 whilst I blog, read and generally potter about. It’s such a beautiful game, with a fantastic plot. And I can’t help but wonder if I could make some cosplay for it. I’d love to be able to spend a ridiculous amount of time crafting incredibly detailed armour from this game – there are some amazingly skilled people out there who’ve made stunning things out of EVA foam. Last year, I thought I’d take some baby steps into that area by making cosplay for the Comedian from Watchmen.
The shoulder pieces are purely made of craft foam – I’ve since learned there are better techniques I could have used, such as heating pieces, in order to sculpt this a little more. The elbow and knee armour was also made out of craft foam, but the bases for these were paintball armour that I had kicking about. The gun I bought from ebay – it was a brightly coloured nerf gun, but I watched many youtube videos about taking it apart, did so and sprayed everything in gunmetal paint. It’s probably the thing I like most about this outfit to be honest, because not only does it look great, but it still works when I put it back together!!
The mask was great fun to do – got to utilise my leather crafting skills. I did a course a few years back and I don’t get as much of an opportunity to use it as I’d like. Of course it does mean that wearing it involves pasting spirit gum on my face and pulling all sorts of contorted expressions to get it to come off again, but the end effect is worth it.
