As I contemplated writing my first ever blog entry I have an equal mix of excitement and sheer terror. I looked online for examples of HOW to write a first blog post; where do I start, what do I say, who am I even talking to at this point? From all that research I discovered something…none of that shit helps, so here I am, going with my Plan B of just start writing and see where it goes.
Let’s start with some introductions. I’m Paul, but henceforth will be going under the name GamingDad. By that you should probably already have a good idea of what you should expect to see here in the future, but I’ll lay it out plain for you. I, like a lot of geeks who managed to trick someone into marrying them often struggle with the balance of desperately wanting to devote all of my time and energy to games, comics, books, TV etc and also wanting to keep a happy family life. The struggle became more real when we introduced my son into the equation.
Now don’t get me wrong this isn’t a blog on how I hate my decision to have a wife and child – far from it. I intend to document my experience of being a gaming dad and all that comes with that. I’ll be providing game reviews, maybe even TV and film – I haven’t quite decided yet, but I’ll also be discussing the things I do with my son and how we bond while I slowly indoctrinate him into the geeky fold (poor little beggar never stood a chance).
Hopefully you enjoy the experience as much as I do, but if not, I still find something oddly therapeutic about typing out any old guff that comes into my head. You have been warned!
